I kind of wish clients would auto-expand them by fetching without following a location header. At least for the known shorteners. This one's worse, though. Even clicking on the link doesn't tell you what it is, only what people thought of it. I agree it is fairly annoying. With slashdot I don't have to click the link to figure out it's something I'm not interested in.
